Thomas Duval Guest, Jr. ("Val") has called the Grand Strand home for much of his life, living in the Surfside area for over 30 years. Val attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Val received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1989. Val formerly served as a law clerk to the Honorable Justice John Waller, after which he worked for the Horry County Solicitor's office as a prosecutor. Val has been in private practice for a number of years and is currently a partner in the law firm of Ouverson, Guest, & Carter in Murrells Inlet. 

 

Val has been married to his wife, Jeanne, for nearly 30 years and has 2 adult daughters, and a dog, Ellie.  In his community, he has been an active member of Surfside Area Rotary Club since 1992 and previously served as President of the Club. In addition, he has serves as an usher and youth leader at Belin United Methodist Church. Val also served as its Treasurer. Val is also a past President of the Horry County Bar Association. His daughters attended local schools and Val supported school and club sports programs through volunteer efforts. Val also participates in local activities of the Citadel Alumni Association, and is a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.
